Can acupuncture help with non-physical problems?

     Classical Five-Element Acupuncture views the body, mind and spirit as a whole.  Physical disorders will cause an imbalance in the mental and emotional outlook and spirit of a person.  Stress and emotional conflict often manifest in the body as insomnia, depression, menstrual irregularities, migraine, gastrointestinal disorders and many common illnesses.

What about medication and other medical care?

     Classical 5- Element Acupuncture may be used in cooperation with other medical care. As a family doctor, I offer a unique understanding of your medical diagnoses and prescribed medications. This allows me to provide acupuncture treatment in an integrated manner for your best health and wellness.

     As the treatment progresses, the need for certain drugs may decrease, but any reduced need or change in medication use should be under the cooperation and approval of your prescribing provider.

What is acupuncture and how does it work?

     Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of healing known to humankind.  It originated in China thousands of years ago. 

     The fact that it is still being practiced today speaks highly for the efficacy of this treatment and for the natural laws and principles on which it is based.

     These are principles that underlie all of creation and apply to every living being.

      Chinese medicine recognizes that there is a vital force in the body which controls the working of every organ and system.

     In all illness, the flow of vital energy (chi) is impaired. Acupuncture directly affects this energy at special points located on the energy pathways (meridians) to draw energy to specific organs, disperse excess energy and to release blockages.

     As the balance and harmony of the vital energy is restored, the symptoms of illness disappear. Addressing the root cause of a symptom creates healing that is transformative, long- lasting and complete.

Do the needles hurt?

      Because the needles are extremely thin, insertion is often hardly felt. People experience different sensations when an acupuncture point is stimulated, including brief pressure and tingling.

Are the needles sterile?

     Yes, only the highest quality stainless steel disposable needles are used. These come in pre-sterilized sealed packages and are discarded after use.
