   About The Five Elements

The Chinese have long held that the five elements, Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water, exist in everything and everyone. The practice of Classical 5- Element Acupuncture is based on the belief that each human being develops an imbalance in the natural functioning of one or more of the five elements as a result of internal and external stressors. This imbalance, if left untreated, becomes the root cause of illness on the level of body, mind and/or spirit.

Based upon natural laws, acupuncture has proven itself safe and effective for thousands of years. We now can benefit by reaching across the globe to incorporate this ancient medicine in our western world.

  • WOOD is the energy of Spring. It promotes the power of decisiveness, order and movement forward with vision and determination.

  • FIRE is the energy of Summer. It provides warmth to our relationships and enhances the circulation and with that, the capacity to love and be loved.

  • EARTH is the energy of late summer, the first harvest. It strengthens our ability to nurture ourselves and each other. It represents the Mother, her care and nourishment.
  • METAL is the energy of Autumn. It polishes our recognition of grace and value in our lives. It enhances our ability to receive and to let go.

  • WATER is the energy of Winter. It calls for adaptability, a time of stillness, self reflection within ourselves, and a building of reserves within.
