Your first appointment is on average about 1.5 hours, depending upon what your ailment is. This consultation will cover your different health concerns and really any questions you have in regards to acupuncture. With our conversation, I can figure out your individual needs. We will also talk about your personal history, health, and end with a physical examination. Your history will tell us how your current health can often contributed to by earlier conditions you may not have even realized you went through. Many past health problems you had can be vital in determining the right solution for you.

Once we have the first appointment consultation, we will then want to set up a 1 hour session once a week for about 6-8 treatments. Each treatment can vary depending on the treatment frequency you need. The first couple of treatments to take up to 2 hours.

Remember that every person is unique both in their history of health as well as responses to treatment. Usually the initial improvement you will feel is the overall state of health. However, sometimes a few treatments in, you realize that your main complaint has been solved. Either way, during the course of treatment, many people experience the greater sense of ease in their life and treatments begin to go from once a week to once a month, to once a quarter, and even once a year.

About the Needles

  • In order to be effective, acupuncture needles are very small and fine. You could compare them to the thickness of a human hair.
  • Each needle is made of stainless steel and both pre-sterilized and discarded after first time use
  • Acupuncture needles are solid, thin, and will not induce any blood flow

The specialists at Five Element Acupuncture will use as few needles as possible so not to interfere with your life's energy. When we do insert a needle, most of the time you will feel a very slight prick. When the needle comes in contact with the qi within the meridian, one may get some type of sensation.
